Hi, I’m Patrick, the mastermind behind Patrick Adair Designs. Today, I want to tell you about our Classic Series. The Classic Series is a unique spin on minimalist style rings.
The Classic Series is our take on a normally boring traditional ring. I wasn’t inspired by or fascinated by regular jewelry. Making traditional jewelry seemed uninspiring with nothing exciting to explore.
With the Classic Series, I took the classic wedding ring shape and elevated it by using exotic materials. I came up with designs using lightweight, hypoallergenic materials. I just wanted to make things that I would like to wear. I love exploring more new materials that aren’t typically used in jewelry which is why our Classic Series has a lot to offer. From minimalist rings like Carbon Fiber, 904L Stainless Steel to more exotic rings like Timascus and Mokume Gane.
It all started with making a ring I'd actually want to wear. . .
I never started out to change the jewelry world, but as we’ve become a larger brand over the last few years I think it’s really awesome to see a shift in the jewelry world. There are big brands using materials I helped pioneer, specifically Glowstone rings and meteorite rings. While being a minor player in the jewelry space, it is awesome to see my influence on the industry.
Materials
I make all my rings how I would want my ring to be. Everything I make has to meet my standards. There are always limitations that I have no control over, but I do the best I can in all areas. I like solid materials. I don’t like plating cheaper metals, I don’t like hiding things or coating it to be something that looks better. I like my stuff to be unapologetically real.
I use a variety of unique materials in the classic series that are durable, unique and authentic. I have always loved carbon fiber which is light weight, strong and hypoallergenic. This is what got me started in all this. I loved the look of carbon fiber and it’s uses.
I later branched out into other exotic materials such as Timascus which is an alloy of Titanium and Damascus. Multiple layers of titanium forged and hammered together. From there, I branched to other forged metals such as Mokume, Zircuti and more. These exotic metals are beautiful, strong and have some very incredible properties. There’s also other materials I really enjoyed working with. 904L Steel, Rose Gold, Damascus steel and more.
Styles
The entire purpose of the Classic Series is to elevate the traditional wedding ring using exotic materials. Some of the classic shaping we work with is a simple beveled edge, flat band, and stackable rings with a dome shape. The only difference is, we aren’t coating silver in a gold plating that will scratch off in a few weeks. We’re using durable, exotic materials that will last a lifetime.
