How To Use A Ring Sizer: Free Ring Sizing Kit
Finding your ring size is one, if not the most important thing when purchasing a ring, especially for a wedding band that you’re planning on wearing for eternity. It’s never good to have a ring a little too tight or a little too loose, and your rings will always look and feel better when comfortably worn in the right size. If you have never worn a ring before, there's a good chance you don't know your ring size. Finding your ring size can be a daunting task, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Luckily for you, we made a handy guide to show you how to use our free ring sizing kit!
How To Use A Ring Sizer
Our adjustable ring sizer (link to product) is made to be simple enough to work with and already comes with measurements for automatic and accurate ring sizing! It comes in the form of a ziptie and is extremely easy to use.
- Simply form a hole with the ring sizer by placing the end of the sizer in the notch, and slide it into the finger you wish to measure.
- Adjust the notch by pulling the end until the sizer tool fits comfortably.
- Make sure to remove the slider to see if it comes off easily, and keep adjusting until you’re happy with the fit. The sizer should not come off too easily and you should feel some resistance as it crosses your knuckle.
- Take note of the size by writing it down or taking a photo, and finally, send it over to support@patrickadairdesigns.com along with any other questions or concerns!

Why You Should Use a Ring Sizer
While finding a local jeweler to professionally fit you is always recommended, sometimes this may not be as easily accessible as we would like, especially due to COVID-19. Busy schedules can’t be helped, and if something as simple as finding a correct ring size can be done at home, then why not, right? Getting a ring sizer to measure your fingers is by far the most convenient option, as you no longer have to travel anywhere to get your fingers measured, as well as being able to keep your sizer should you or anyone else in the household need to use it again!
How to Read a Ring Sizer
Before taking your measurements, ensure that your ring sizer fits perfectly around your finger. All you have to do is simply check what number the notch on the sizer sits at, and there you have your wedding ring size!
Our ring sizer already comes in US sizes so there’s absolutely no need for you to do any kind of conversion whatsoever or check a size chart. All that is left for you to do is send over your ring sizes to us, and we’ll do the rest!
Should you be using other alternative ring sizers - like a DIY ring sizer, printable ring sizer - or do not reside in the US, do feel free to check out our ring sizing conversion chart.
Alternatives to a Ring Sizer
There are definitely times when you’d much rather just do things yourself, and that’s totally fine, and all you really need is a ruler and a string or a tape measure! Here is how to get your finger size from scratch:
- Take your string or tape measure, and wrap it around your finger once. Make sure that you do not have cold fingers to get the finger measurement correct.
- Mark the points where the string meet and lay it flat on the table.
- Straighten the string out and measure the length with your ruler. If you’re using a tape measure, simply take note of the measurement!
- Make sure to double, triple, perhaps even quadruple check the measurements to ensure accuracy and not get the wrong size.
- Refer to our sizing chart to convert your measurements into its corresponding sizes, and all that is left for you to do afterwards is send us your ring size!
Just a word of warning: this method, although very simple, may not produce the most accurate results and may cause sizing mistakes. We highly recommend getting our free ring sizing kit for accurate results or visit a local jeweler if you can so you can get the perfect size for your comfort fit ring!
