All About The Halo Ring
All About The Halo Ring
Though the jewelry market is currently worth around $348.5 billion, it's a challenge to find unique and durable jewelry. You want a men's wedding band or similar ring that's interesting and one-of-a-kind while still being durable enough to withstand everyday wear and tear. In this article, we are highlighting one of our fan favorites, The Halo Ring. A typical Halo Ring is a women's engagement ring with a "halo" setting which generally consists of small accent diamonds that encircle a larger center stone (usually a diamond as well). The Halo Ring that we offer is quite different, to say the least.
Patrick Adair Designs is proud to offer its own take on The Halo Ring - a ring with no limits, containing pieces from around the entire universe. Read on to learn more about this amazing piece and why it's a must add to any wardrobe.
Inspiration Behind the Design
The Halo Ring is housed in a durable Grade 5 titanium wide channel base that is both lightweight and durable, making it perfect for every day wear. Titanium is one of the most popular metals used for wedding bands, which naturally makes it a great choice to house the special inlay of The Halo Ring.
Now let's talk about that inlay! The ring has a wider inlay than our standard Glowstone Rings which allows for more attention to detail and customization. The inlay is composed of a bottom layer of glow pigment base and then a variety of materials ranging from meteorites to opals to fossils. Each material was hand-picked by Patrick himself and a lot of thought and detail went into each material. None of the inlay materials were included by accident. Each and every material in the Halo Ring has a deeper meaning behind it, so let's dive into that deeper!

Inlay Materials
The Halo Ring comes standard with three types of opal, (Australian Rainbow Matrix, Ethiopian Fire, Ethiopian Welo), two types of meteorites (Muonionalusta and Campo del Cielo), and two types of fossilized tooth fragments (T-rex, Megolodan). This combination of materials was hand-picked with thought and integrity. Since each ring is handmade, made to order there are endless customization possibilities, truly making this a ring with no limits. When Patrick was concocting the design for this ring, he really wanted to create a ring that had a rich history, something that tells a story by itself. Most, if not all of these materials may be foreign to you, but that's why we're here, to let you know exactly what these materials are and why there were included in The Halo Ring.

Meteorite
Meteorite is a staple at Patrick Adair Designs and is quite literally, out of this world. A meteorite is a meteor that survives its passage through the earth's atmosphere. It's essentially a rock, composed mostly of iron and other metals. Nowadays, there are a multitude of meteorites used in jewelry but we decided to use two specific types -Muonionalusta and Campo del Cielo.
Muonionalusta Meteorite is the oldest known meteorite (over 4.5 billion years old) and originated between the border of Sweden and Finland. It is the same meteorite that we have been using to craft our solid Meteorite Rings for years. Campo del Cielo is a group of iron meteorites that were found in Argentina. It is possibly the heaviest meteorite to have ever been recovered on Earth.

Opal
Opal has been another staple for us at Patrick Adair Designs. We originally started incorporating crushed opal in the inlay of our Glowstone rings. Opal is incredibly flashy and we love how opal can look different based on the lighting and angle. This is even more apparent with our relatively new Obsidian Opal Series. The opal we use in our Halo Ring is even more unique in its colors and rarity.
Australian Andamooka Rainbow Matrix opal can only be found in the South Australia area. This opal is heat treated to darken the matrix and allows the beautiful opal colors to stand out. This kind of Andamooka Matrix opal is highly sought after due to its dark background and vivid colors.
Ethiopian opal is more available than Australian opal and has a wider variety of colors. Its a bit more stable and is available in larger quantities. The Halo Ring contains both Ethiopian Fire and Welo opal. These two opals contrast each other beautifully.

Fossil
The ring doesn't only toy with the borders of Earth and space but also shakes the boundaries of time. The inclusion of genuine fossilized tooth fragments from T-rexes and megalodons will take you back in time. Each fossilized fragment is carefully picked out from trusted suppliers to ensure authenticity. These tooth fragments are a great way to carry a bit of history and the Earth with you wherever you go.
