A tungsten carbide ring is among the most affordable alternatives you can choose. This is because tungsten is an extremely abundant material, unlike precious metals such as gold and meteorite. The other positive about tungsten carbide is the potential creativity behind these rings. At most jewelers, most tungsten rings are limited in design because of its hardness. We've mentioned that tungsten rings are hard, scratch proof, and waterproof. But what if your tungsten ring doesn't fit? Can tungsten rings be resized if it doesn't? Sadly, tungsten rings aren't practical to resize due to its hardness. This might be the biggest downside to tungsten. So, if you have a ring that isn't the correct size, we can't stretch or shrink it. The nature brittleness of tungsten carbide makes it impossible to resize. The only option is to make a new ring or look into sizing beads to decrease the size of the ring. Thankfully, our non-custom rings are eligible for a free resizing. Sizing mistakes can happen even with the right ring size guide. This means you shouldn't have to worry too much about not having the right finger size.

Tungsten rings are difficult to damage compared to a lot of our other rings due to its hardness. It doesn't matter if it's plain, rounded, or hammered tungsten rings. Any tungsten carbide ring has superior resistance compared to alternative metals or materials. You could drop it from a low height, and there's a good chance that the ring will still be okay. Its superior resistance is almost two times harder than other precious metals that we work with. It's the toughest and most scratch resistant metal that we use.

The natural color of tungsten rings is silver to gunmetal gray. Your tungsten ring can come in almost any color. If you'd like, a professional jeweler can make you a plated custom color other than gunmetal gray. They can offer you popular choices like gold, yellow gold, and white tungsten bands.

But plated rings are not something we recommend due to maintenance problems. Plated rings will always degrade over time and lead to a faded and dulled color. This is the case for a black tungsten ring or any bright color offered to you by a professional jeweler.  

Polishing a plated tungsten ring will also break down the plating faster. Even if you shine it every day, maintenance is impossible. Thankfully, you won't have this issue with the default colors. Basic gunmetal gray and silver-white variations don't have the same maintenance issues. We suggest sticking with the colorless version.
