Why You Should Own Multiple Wedding Bands

Owning more than one wedding band isn’t something completely new, as stackable rings have been a trend since the 1960s. You’ve been considering the idea of getting a second ring for a while, but you’re not quite sure what exactly you’d do with one, or why you’d need one in the first place. Perhaps you didn’t even know that getting multiple wedding bands was a thing people did! Whether you’re looking for a reason, or just want to know more about this phenomenon, here are a few reasons we could think of for purchasing multiple wedding bands!

      Why Wear Multiple Rings?

You may want to consider multiple wedding bands as a design choice

The practice of wearing multiple rings has been around for an incredibly long time. Ancient Kings, Queens, noblemen, and esteemed merchants alike adorned themselves with multiple rings on their fingers and other pieces of jewelry to signify their wealth, reputation, or the house/guild they serve. Nowadays, having more than one ring on your hand may not always be a symbol of your wealth, but rather, a representation of your individual style!

It’s also no surprise that jewelry trends have emerged throughout history to creatively portray the spirit of the times! Like we’ve mentioned before, stackable wedding bands have been around for a while now and it  doesn’t seem like it will die out anytime soon. While it is a trend that tends towards women and their engagement rings, stackable rings for men are surely a charming way to accessorize. Stackable rings are definitely not your only option, as wearing multiple rings on two separate fingers is always a classic and probably the most versatile way to go.

      Special Occasions

You may want to consider multiple wedding bands for a special occasions

Your vow renewals are coming up, or perhaps even a special anniversary. Your current wedding band is nice and is of great sentimental value to you, but you feel as though it's about time to bring something new into the relationship. After all, anniversaries and vow renewals are about celebrating the journey you’ve gone through to get to where you are, and the journey you and your significant other are about to face together. A second ring to commemorate these milestones in your relationship makes for a meaningful present and symbol of hope and perseverance.

      Outfit

You may want to consider multiple wedding bands for different outfits

Looking good and paying attention to how you present yourself is your form of self-care, and unfortunately your wedding band doesn’t match half of what is in your wardrobe. Your ring may just be a bit too flashy for the casual but classic outfits, it may be to showy for a professional business meeting. It may be the opposite situation, where your ring may feel a little on the simpler side compared to all the loud colors you wear on a daily basis. The energy that your ring exudes compared to your outfits are just way too different, and having a second, maybe even third ring that can easily match with the general aesthetic of what is in your closet.

      Getting Your Hands Dirty

You may want to consider multiple wedding bands if you plan on being tough on your ring

You’re a dude who likes to work with your hands. Whether it be for work or for your own hobbies, you find yourself using a good number of tools and working in environments that could very much leave some dents, scratches, or even cracks on your beloved gold wedding band or other wedding rings made of a precious metal. Backup Plan

Sometimes things just don’t go according to plan, and most of the time, the unpredictability's of life are matters you just can’t control; The Fates have willed it, and there’s nothing you can do…or is there? You’ve always been the kind of guy who makes backup plans even for your backup plans, so when something out of the blue comes up and throws your itinerary for the day all topsy-turvy, you have a plan B, C, and D ready and waiting for action. Losing your ring no matter the circumstances definitely wasn’t what you had expected to happen; such is life, but thankfully you’ve come prepared with your backup wedding band. Having an extra additional ring tucked away for unexpected events or accidents is always a good idea, especially if you’ve got the budget for it.

Should You Get Multiple Wedding Bands?

Getting multiple wedding rings is by no means an easy (or cheap) decision to make. Wedding rings alone could cost quite a hefty amount, and getting a second one may simply be beyond the budget for now. But regardless of whether you’re planning on getting one now or in the future, you don’t need a life changing reason like wedding vows or 25th anniversaries to get one. Simple things such as having a change in wardrobe or no longer feeling the vibes are just as good of a reason as any. At the end of the day, getting more than one wedding band is just another way you can express your individuality amidst the overarching narrative of your marriage!
