Having a ring stuck on your finger is definitely not a fun situation to be in. You don’t think the situation is too dire that you’d need your ring professionally cut off, but you’re having a rather difficult time getting it off your finger. You’ve tried tugging and pulling at it a number of times already, and that ring is still looking pretty stuck no matter what. Going to the ER for emergency care to have it removed is certainly an option, but probably overkill. There are some easy and ingenious at-home ways you can attempt to remove your ring without having to drive all the way to the nearest jewelry store or hospital for medical care. Here are some quick tutorials on how to get a stuck ring off your finger!
Getting a ring stuck on your finger is not an unheard of occurrence, in fact, it is something that should be taken into account, especially when wearing a ring has become part and parcel of your daily life. Rings can get stuck on a finger for multiple reasons: allergic reactions, pregnancies, arthritis in joints, fluid retention, injuries, or even warm weather can cause additional swelling. Not removing a ring when swelling occurs can result in numbness, restriction of blood circulation, loss of blood flow, and potential tendon damage. Take a deep breath. Thankfully, there are ways to safely remove your ring should this occur, so there’s definitely no need to panic!
Should your swelling come from finger fractures or a finger injury, we would recommend skipping these techniques entirely and head straight to professionals for emergency care to have your injury assessed! Having your ring removed properly and carefully without further damaging your swollen finger or causing permanent damage to your injured finger is of utmost importance!
1. Submerge your hands in an ice bath with cold water or a cup of ice water. The key is to place your swelling finger in ice for a few minutes. The cool water will allow your blood vessels to constrict and help decrease the finger swelling!
2. After the ice bath or with the ice pack on the finger, elevate your hand over your head and remain in that position for 5-10 minutes. Elevating your hands will allow gravity to do its job and keep the blood flow away from the swelling finger.
3. Add a lubricant afterwards, and safely tug at the ring to remove it from the finger.
If reducing the swelling of your finger in ice did not work, there are other ways to remove a ring stuck on your finger! You may have trie using a regular lubricant, but perhaps giving the trusty ol’ Windex a chance may just do the trick!
1. Take your Windex and apply it on your finger and on the affected area.
2. Instead of twisting your ring around, gently rock the ring back and forth as you attempt to ease it off your finger.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, reapplying Windex when necessary.
It’s time to get creative! You have tried the ice and the Windex method both to no avail, so it’s now time to bring out the ever so reliable plastic wrap. This finger-wrapping method is an easy yet ingenious lifehack that has saved multiple people from going through the trouble of going to the ER.
1. Cut a small portion of plastic wrap and wrap it around your entire finger and your ring.
2. Add any type of lubricant on to the plastic wrap–petroleum jelly, dish soap, oil, or butter will do–and on the ring and let it sit for a few minutes.
3. Pull the wrap and your ring down at the same time. The idea here is that the ring should budge and move with the help of the plastic wrap!
Not a fan of the plastic wrap? Perhaps using the dental-floss method or the string method may work for you! All you will need is dental floss or some string, as well as a needle or thin tweezers to help set up the technique.
1. Slip the string or floss into the stuck ring with the bulk of it towards the fingertip. You may use a needle or some thin tweezers to help get the thread under the stuck ring.
2. Beginning at the top, use the thread to wrap around the finger numerous times, as mummifying it helps compress the finger. Continue this until you have reached all the way up to the knuckle.
3. With the end that was under the ring, begin to unwrap the thread or floss by pulling it down towards the finger tip. This way, it will allow the ring to slide over the knuckle as the string unwinds!
Meteorite is a piece of debris from a meteoroid that originates in outer space. When a meteoroid enters the atmosphere, various factors and chemical interactions turn the object into a meteor and once it settles on the surface, it becomes a meteorite. Meteorite pieces will vary in shape and size and are distinguished into three categories: stony meteorite, iron meteorite, and stony-iron meteorite. Stony meteorites are rocks mainly composed of silicate materials. Iron meteorites are mainly composed of iron, nickel, and cobalt. Stony-iron meteorites is a combination of both. Meteorite gets its extremely unique pattern (known as its Widmanstatten pattern) by being acid-etched. This pattern is authentic and one-of-a-kind for each meteorite piece and cannot be fabricated (very well, at least).
Meteorite jewelry is typically made from iron meteorite. While there are a variety of iron meteorites, some are more common than others. Below are a few of the most popular meteorites used in jewelry.
Gibeon meteorite is one of the most common meteorites used in jewelry. It gets its name from the town it was found in Gibeon, Namibia. It was first discovered in 1838 but dates back to prehistoric times. Gibeon meteorite is composed of an iron-nickel alloy with a significant amount of cobalt and phosphorus. Its beautiful etch pattern makes it a popular choice among jewelers.
Muonionalusta meteorite gets its name from the Muonio River, located on the border of Sweden and Finland. The first piece was found in 1906 while studies have shown it to be the oldest discovered meteorite dating back to 4.5 billion years ago. It is composed of iron, nickel, and a small amount of the rare elements gallium and germanium. Muonionalusta is an extremely stable meteorite with a similar etch pattern to Gibeon.
Unlike Gibeon and Muonionalusta, Seymchan meteorite is a pallasite meteorite (stony-iron composite) that was first found in 1967 in Seymchan, Russia. It contains a high amount of iridium and is fairly rust-resistant, making it a popular choice for jewelry.
Patrick Adair Designs strictly uses Muonionalusta meteorite due to its incredible stability and beautiful acid-etch pattern. Our standard Meteorite Ring is one of our best selling wedding bands and is customizable with exotic materials such as carbon fiber and gold. In addition to our meteorite ring, we also offer an authentic Meteorite Pendant with a sleek sterling silver chain.
We are constantly trying to push the envelope by incorporating meteorite into new designs. Our latest design that includes meteorite is our Carbon Fiber, Rose Gold, and Meteorite Ring. This ring is housed in a durable carbon fiber base and features a meteorite inlay with 14K rose gold accents, but don't worry if you don't see your perfect meteorite ring. Patrick Adair Designs prides ourselves in being a leader in the custom jewelry space meaning if you can imagine it we can make it for you!
When shopping for a meteorite wedding band, you have to be wary about jewelers trying to pawn off fake meteorite as authentic meteorite. Luckily, most jewelers who sell imitation meteorite will explicitly state whether or not their meteorite is fake. Below are four surefire ways to know if your meteorite piece is real.
1) Real Meteorite is Magnetic
Meteorite is composed mainly of iron and nickel and as a result, is magnetic. If your meteorite jewelry is not magnetic, it is most likely fake.
2) Real Meteorite will Rust
Meteorite will rust for the same reasons why it is magnetic. Its heavy iron composition means it has the potential to rust. Although there are many types of meteorites that are stable and rust-resistant, all real meteorite can develop rust at some point in time. Any meteorite jewelry that is advertised to not rust is fake. Rust can be easily taken care of and prevented. Learn more about how we treat and care for our Meteorite Rings here.
3) Real Meteorite Jewelry is Expensive
Meteorite is not the most abundant material available and is worth more than your common metal. In addition to this, meteorite is a very difficult material to work with. It must be machined slowly with expensive tools and great care. Meteorite rings will vary in price depending on style and composition so be wary of cheap meteorite jewelry potentially being fake. The only time real meteorite jewelry is cheaper is when the actual weight of meteorite is small like in the Patrick Adair Designs meteorite necklaces and pendants. To make these affordable we have to cut the slice of meteorite in the pendant extremely thin.
4) Real Meteorite cannot be Fabricated
In some cases, a certificate of authenticity can be provided to prove the authenticity of meteorite but there is a much easier and cheaper way to figure out the authenticity of meteorite. This was touched on earlier, but real meteorite contains Widmanstatten patterns that are impossible to replicate without looking extremely fake. Now we won't show you what a fake one looks like, but it's going to be pretty easy to tell if you compare them with our meteorite pieces.
Now that you've read up on the different types of meteorite and know how to authenticate it, why should you buy meteorite jewelry? People commonly associate meteorite with balance and strength and many believe it has healing properties. Even if you're not a fan of astrology, you can still appreciate the uniqueness of meteorite. If you want to stray from the norm, meteorite makes for a perfect wedding band or engagement ring and surely will be a conversation starter anywhere you go. Browse our Meteorite Collection here.

Meteorite is composed of mainly iron, and as a result is susceptible to rust. We have recently developed a super top-secret etching technique that not only brightens the color of our rings allowing for a longer lasting etch, but it also greatly reduces the chance of rust forming. Rust is still inevitable (kind of like Thanos) but can be easily managed if you know what you are doing (also kind of like Thanos). Rust will vary for each and every meteorite ring and if you are lucky enough, your ring may not rust at all. If rust does form on your ring, use this simple method below to remove rust from your ring:

The PAD Ring Sizer is the quickest, easiest, and cheapest way to find your ring size. These ring sizers correspond to all the official Patrick Adair Design rings meaning this is the most accurate way to find your ring size.
Each ring sizer costs $10 but includes a $10 gift card. Meaning it is free to buy a ring sizer to help you make your first purchase.
The PAD Ring Sizers are extremely easy to use. You just wrap it around your finger and put the end through the loop. You then sinch it till it is comfortable. You don't want it to be too tight or too loose. I also highly recommend you make sure it can be slid on and off your finger comfortably.
We highly recommend visiting a local jewelry store to confirm your ring size. This process is usually free and is the most accurate way to get the correct size!
Jewelers usually offer this free of charge because they want to make sure that their customers know what size to look for. It is always good to visit multiple jewelers to make sure you know your size.
If you're unable to visit a jeweler and don't have $10, it is very simple to find your ring size at home. All you need is a ruler and a piece of string and to follow the 3 simples steps below, and you can find your ring size at home.
DISCLAIMER: The string method is not the most accurate way to find your ring size. We highly recommend finding your ring size with options #1 or #2 as those tend to be the most accurate/reliable.
1. Wrap the string around your finger and mark where it begins to overlap.
2. Straighten the string out and measure it with a ruler. This is the circumference measurement of your finger.
3. Compare this with our ring sizing chart!

]]>If you've followed Patrick Adair Designs for awhile now, you probably know that Patrick's first ever creation was the Pure Carbon Fiber Ring. Carbon Fiber is a high strength material that is also extremely lightweight. These two properties along with its sleek minimalist look have made Carbon Fiber a staple in our collections. If you have never heard of carbon fiber before, you may be wondering what is carbon fiber? What is it made from and what are its applications? Keep on reading for an overview of Carbon Fiber and all of its properties and applications.
It is important to distinguish between loose/woven carbon filaments and rigid composite carbon fiber. The latter is used in aerospace and other applications (it's also the same carbon fiber we use for our rings). The former (also known as graphite fiber) is made up of fibers that are about 5-10 micrometers in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms.
Aeorspace grade carbon fiber is also known as carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). CFRP is a composite material. It consists of two composite parts: a matrix and reinforcement. The reinforcement is the carbon fiber which provides strength and the matrix is generally a polymer epoxy resin that binds the reinforcements together.
About 90% of the carbon fibers produced are made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN). PAN is a synthetic polymer resin that is hard and resistant to most solvents and chemicals. The remaining 10% are made from petroleum pitch or rayon. These raw materials are organic polymers, characterized by long strings of molecules bound together by carbon atoms. The exact composition of each precursor varies from one company to another and is generally considered a trade secret.
The manufacturing process for making carbon fiber involves both mechanical and chemical processes. The precursor is drawn into long strands and then heated at a very high temperature without allowing it to come in contact with oxygen. The lack of oxygen allows the carbon fiber to withstand the high temperatures by not burning. A process known as carbonization happens at these high temperatures where a reaction in the atoms expels the non-carbon atoms. Carbonization creates tightly interlocked chains of carbon atoms with little to no non-carbon atoms remaining. From these fibers, sheets are created and depending on how they are woven, different patterns of carbon fiber will arise. At Patrick Adair Designs, we use a bidirectional (twill weave) woven sheet for the vast majority of our rings.
On top of being incredibly strong, carbon fiber has a bunch of unique properties which makes it a great material for a variety of applications. Check out this fun project I did where I made Carbon Fiber Knuckles:
Carbon fiber has a:
At first, carbon fiber had a higher cost to produce than other materials which was one of the limiting factors of its adoption. However, over the years, more and more carbon fiber manufacturers have surfaced as the cost premium has come down over the past decade.
Carbon Fiber has an incredible amount of real-world applications as a result of its properties. The carbon fiber market size was estimated to be 4.7 billion USD in 2019. This market is growing due to its increasing demand from aerospace & defense, automotive, and wind turbine industries.
The low density of carbon fiber makes it fairly easy to cut with the proper tools and machinery. As a result, almost anything can be made with Carbon Fiber. Every day carry items such as wallets and phone cases are being made of carbon fiber parts. Carbon fiber also has applications in aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, and civil engineering with things from aircraft wings to propeller blades to car components. Carbon fiber composites have shown to reduce car weight by 50% which improves fuel efficiency among other things.
Carbon fiber is classified by the tensile modulus of the fiber. High modulus and ultrahigh modulus carbon fibers have a tensile strength ten times stronger than steel. Its strength to weight ratio is unparalleled as carbon fibre is an incredibly lightweight material compared to steel.
Now that you've read up on carbon fiber properties, how awesome does an every day high performance sleek ring that is incredibly lightweight and strong sound? On top of that, our carbon fiber rings happen to be some of our easier and cheaper products to make. Really, this low maintenance material speaks for itself so go on and take a look at our Carbon Fiber Collection.

Exchanging wedding rings is a long-established tradition that dates back to 6,000 years ago. The symbolism and custom of wearing wedding rings have become ingrained in many cultures around the world. The wedding ring was first documented when the ancient Egyptians made them from plants that grew alongside the Nile river. These rings were not very durable and were eventually replaced with materials like bone, leather, and ivory. The ancient Egyptians inscribed hieroglyphics onto their rings that symbolized eternal love and commitment. The symbolism that these rings provided in the ancient times still applies today.
The wedding ring is a symbol for many important things and one of the most important things it stands for is commitment. When we notice someone wearing a wedding ring, in most cases that means they are fully committed to someone they truly love. Wedding rings symbolize gratification. When wearing a wedding ring, one tends to feel very prideful of their marriage. Women especially love showing off their beautiful and personal ring to the world.
The circular shape of wedding rings is very deep and beautiful. A circle is a common symbol for infinity because it has no beginning or end. A circle is eternal and endless, just the way love should be. The circular shape symbolizes infinite never-ending love while the center hole is a path to the future.
There is a theory that the Romans started placed the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was commonly believed that finger contained the vein of love (vena amoris). The tradition of wearing the wedding band on the left ring finger has lasted to this day, although there are many European countries where it is standard to wear the ring on the ring finger of your right hand. In a Jewish wedding, it is standard for the groom to place the ring on the bride's pointer finger during the marriage ceremony. This is because the pointer finger is believed to be the most prominent in Jewish culture.
The engagement ring is given during a marriage proposal. Wedding rings are typically exchanged during a wedding ceremony. The latter tends to be a much simpler ring whereas the engagement ring tends to be a bit flashier with large diamonds and gemstones. However, this isn't always the case and depends on the married couple. Engagement rings can be any ring and don't have to be a fancy expensive ring. In some cases, the engagement ring is also used for the wedding band.
Metal wedding bands weren't introduced until in Ancient Rome, where the groom would present the bride with an iron ring. Before then, rings were made out of plants and other fragile materials. The Romans were also believed to have first utilized engravings on wedding bands. The durable metal bands used symbolized stability and strength.
In the United States, prior to World War II, it was common for just women to wear a wedding ring. However, during the war many of the men wore their rings as a sign of commitment while stationed overseas. After this, wedding ring sets became more popular among the people. Precious metals such as gold, platinum, and silver are extremely popular materials for wedding rings, and although those are still prominent in the wedding jewelry industry today, the variety of materials has greatly increased.
Patrick Adair Designs offers wedding bands in unique materials ranging from real meteorite originating in outer space to glowstone resin rings.

Wedding rings are a symbol of eternal love and commitment. The wedding ring has a rich history and while the design of wedding rings has evolved throughout the years, the tradition and symbolism has stayed the same. One of the big traditions associated with the wedding ring is an engraving. Adding an engraving to your wedding band is a very common thing to do and makes your ring extra special. An engraving is one of the easiest ways to personalize your ring and most jewelers are capable of engraving your ring. Ring engravings can be a way to commemorate a special time/moment in your relationship with your partner. It is important to take the time to find the perfect engraving for you, because most ring engravings are permanent and cannot be removed. If you are unsure of what to engrave on your wedding band, this blog post will surely help you out. Keep on reading for a bunch of ideas to figure out the perfect wedding ring engraving for you!
These short phrases are both romantic and sweet and make for great wedding ring inscriptions. When choosing a romantic phrase, you should think about something you say to your partner often or something that captures your relationship perfectly. You can also consider engraving your wedding band in one of the romance languages such as French, Italian, and Latin. Below are some of our favorite romantic phrases that you can use.
Engraving your ring with your partners names or initials is an easy way to make it extra personal. Initials are great because of how simple it is and you can even separate your two initials with an "&" or heart and infinity symbols. If you and your significant others have cute nicknames or pet names for each other, it would make for a sentimental engraving. You can also engrave your ring with a significant date such as your wedding date or first date. There are many combinations of names, initials, and dates that you can play around with until you find the perfect one for you!
The bible provides wonderful verses about love and also happen to make for great ring engravings. Below are some great bible verses you can engrave on the inside of your ring.
If the above ideas are too conventional and cliché for you, below are a couple fun ideas you can use to come up with a ring engraving that is perfect for you.
Sometimes words are unable to describe your love for your significant other. Instead, you can think about engraving your ring with a special symbol or image, since a picture is worth a thousand words. This can get a little trickier as some jewelers and engravers are unable to engrave anything other than simple text. If you do find a jeweler who can engrave symbols and images, the two most common symbols to engrave are a heart and infinity symbol. A heart represents a universal sign for love whereas the infinity sign represents your never-ending love for someone.
The cost for a ring engraving depends on the jeweler/engraver. They are relatively cheap and typically range from $25-$75. Engravings are offered usually at a flat rate or based on character quantity. There are a variety of ways to engrave rings from hand-etching to laser-etching. The former is a bit more limited in capabilities whereas the latter can be used for more complex engravings.
Patrick Adair Designs offers wedding ring engravings at an affordable price with a variety of customization options. We are committed to helping you find the perfect wedding band and can engrave pretty much any type of ring with any text/symbols you can imagine. Start shopping for your Wedding Band or Engagement Ring and contact us if you have any questions regarding your wedding ring engraving.

Before we go in depth on meteorite, it is important to distinguish between these three things: meteorite, meteoroid, and meteor. All three of these things are related to the flashes of light known as "shooting stars" or "falling stars" that are often seen streaking through the night sky. In fact, they are all the same object originating from outer space, but we call it a different name depending on where it is while it's traveling through the Earth's atmosphere. According to NASA, meteoroids or "space rocks" are objects in space that range in size from dust grains to small fragments of asteroids. While the majority of these objects come from asteroids, some originate from comets and are of Lunar (moon) and Martian (mars) origins. When meteoroids enter Earth's atmosphere (or that of another planet like Mars) at high speeds and burn up, the fireball streak of lights are called meteors. When a meteoroid survives a trip through the atmosphere and hits the planet's surface, it's called a meteorite. Millions of meteoroids travel through the Earth's atmosphere every day, however a majority of them do not touch the ground. Scientists estimate about 48.5 tons of meteorite falls on the Earth each day. A meteor shower occurs when there are a dramatic number of meteors that fall through the Earth's atmosphere during a given night.
Upwards of 60,000 meteorites have been found on Earth. We won't bog you down with the exact specifics, but meteorites have traditionally been divided into three broad categories: stony meteorites that are rocks, mainly composed of silicate minerals; iron meteorites that are largely composed of metallic iron-nickel; and stony-iron meteorites (pallasites) that contain large amounts of both metallic and rocky material. Iron meteorite is the most common type of meteorite used in our rings as well as other meteorite jewelry.
Meteorites come in all shapes and sizes. If a meteorite is large enough, it creates what is known as a meteorite crater. A meteorite crater is a impact crater that creates a large bowl shaped basin. One of the most popular meteor craters is located in northern Arizona known as the Canyon Diablo Crater. This crater was formed over 50,000 years ago and is about 3,900 feet in diameter while being 560 feet deep!
Throughout history, many memorable meteorites have touched down on our planet's surface. Some of the most famous include:
The Hoba Meteorite - Meteorites come in all different shapes and sizes. Currently, the largest meteorite known to mankind right now is the Hoba meteorite located in Namibia, South Africa. The Hoba meteorite is 60 tons and almost 9 feet long! It is mostly an iron meteorite with traces of other elements such as nickel. It was first discovered in 1920 and is over 80,000 years old.
The Willamette Meteorite - Weighing in at 15.5 tons and standing at ten feet tall, the Willamette Meteorite is the largest meteorite ever found in the United States. It was discovered in 1902 and was believed to land around 1,000 years ago.
The Allende Meteorite - The Allende Meteorite landed in Mexico in 1969, originally the size of a car before it broke down into smaller fragments. It is one of the most studied meteorites of all time and a prime example of a carbonaceous chondrite.
Meteorites range in age anywhere from 200 million years old to over 4.5 billion years old. The iron meteorite Patrick Adair Designs uses for its products is the Muonionalusta Meteorite originating in Sweden. It happens to be the oldest known meteorite, estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old! The Allende Meteorite is also said to be upwards of 4.5 billion years old which is older than the Earth itself!
Meteorites are typically sold by weight. The actual value of meteorite is determined by a variety of factors including condition, rarity, origin, and appearance. It is important to note that if a new meteorite is discovered, it is first made available to the scientific community for study. Once a new meteorite is classified and analyzed, it is then made available on the commercial market. The process of meteorite being accepted into official scientific literature adds value to the meteorite.
The price of meteorite will vary depending on the source but common meteorites can be found for as cheap as $0.50/gram to $5/gram. More premium meteorites will sell anywhere from $20/gram to $50/gram. Martian meteorites, some of the scarcest meteorites, have gone for over $1,000/gram or more! In comparison, the price of gold is currently $58.02/gram.
Crafting a meteorite ring is an extremely time-consuming process. Meteorite is an extremely difficult material to work with and requires a lot of attention to detail. As a result, each meteorite ring is crafted with incredible detail and thought. All of our meteorite pieces are truly one-of-a-kind due to the irreplicable Widmanstätten patterns that each piece exudes.

Tungsten or tungsten carbide, is the strongest metal alloy used in jewelry. The tungsten jewelry alloy generally contains tungsten, carbon, cobalt, and/or nickel. Jewelers do not use pure tungsten for rings since pure tungsten is toxic and is also a very soft metal by itself.
There are many reasons why tungsten is a popular choice in the wedding band industry. Below are the many Pros of a tungsten wedding band:
Although we absolutely love tungsten as a material, it does come with a few flaws. Not everything can be perfect, unfortunately. Below are the cons of tungsten carbide rings:
Now that you've read up on the pros and cons of tungsten, let's talk about what to look for when shopping for tungsten rings. A general rule of thumb when shopping for tungsten jewelry is to make sure that the jeweler offers a lifetime warranty or size exchange policy. Another thing to look out for is color plated tungsten rings. Tungsten can only be made in one color, which is gunmetal gray. If a jeweler is offering tungsten in multiple colors, it means the color is plated over the gunmetal gray. Unfortunately, any type of plating will eventually scratch and wear away over time. For this reason, we do recommend avoiding black tungsten wedding bands.
Patrick Adair Designs offers an assortment of tungsten inlayrings in many styles. You can even customize your own tungsten glowstone ring with a selection of gemstones and colors. On top of that, Patrick Adair Designs offers a lifetime warranty on all of their tungsten rings as well as a free size exchange for all non-custom rings. Shop our Tungsten Collection here.

Still, most people do not understand the intrinsic value of handmade jewelry. There are many reasons why you should consider buying and supporting handmade jewelry as opposed to mass-produced products. Below are seven reasons why you should buy handmade rings.
The materials used in handcrafted jewelry are typically of higher quality. Patrick Adair Designs ethically sources high quality materials from reputable suppliers. This is not always the case for mass-produced products. A lot of the time, bigger companies are not upfront with what their materials and alloys are made of. We are upfront with what is contained in every single ring and ensure it is of jewelry-grade.
On top of the high quality materials that are offered, we are also able to offer a variety of different materials to make your ring extra personal. If you are looking for your birthstone in your ring like moonstone, amethyst, citrine, or lapis lazuli, then we have you covered. Opal engagement rings are particularly popular and Patrick Adair Designs offers a variety of opals in a broad spectrum of colors and sizes. If you're looking for something more coveted in a wedding ring, you can explore our gold rings ranging from rose gold to yellow gold. Or maybe, silver jewelry is more your style? You can get a 925 sterling silver ring designed however you want. A band ring with some unique etches? We can do that. Maybe you want it faceted in our famous obsidian style? We've got you there too! Is there a material or style on your wishlist that we don't offer on our website? Or do you want to send us some of your own materials to be put inside of a ring? Send us an email! We are extremely flexible and willing to work with all sorts of materials. A company who mass-produces their rings are generally incapable of incorporating different materials.
Production on a much smaller scale is almost always of higher quality as compared to larger-scale production. This is because the production process on a smaller scale is easily controlled. An automated machine that requires no human supervision can produce thousands of units a day whereas our individual artisans must allocate all their time and energy into one piece at a time. This does mean our products tend to take slightly longer to make than other competitors, but this can ultimately be seen as a major plus. The attention to detail we are able to put into each and every ring is something that cannot be found in mass-produced jewelry. Your handmade wedding ring from Patrick Adair Designs is far more likely to have fewer imperfections and flaws than something that is mass-produced.
I know it sounds cliché, but no two rings we make are going to look exactly the same, making each and every ring truly one-of-a-kind. There is a handmade human element to every ring, resulting in a slight variation in each and every one of them. This makes our products extremely unique and they cannot be fabricated elsewhere. No ring made on entirely by a machine will have the same consideration and attention to detail as a handmade ring. Would you rather have a boring sterling silver ring for an engagement ring? Or would you rather have a handmade gemstone ring that is authentic and genuine? The latter sounds much more appealing, especially for a lifelong wedding band/engagement ring, or maybe you're buying yourself a signet ring? Isn't the whole idea behind a signet ring that it should entirely unique to you? Then why go get one where 10,000 people have the exact same design. Come up with whatever style you want. Do you want a silver band with a blue topaz set in the center? Easy enough. That's why handmade rings are almost always the way to turn the ring of your dreams into the ring on your hand.
More often than not, handmade jewelry tends to be more affordable. This is not always the case, but generally, there are fewer fixed costs to making jewelry by hand. Instead, the value of a handmade piece is justified by the craftsmanship and time that goes into making each piece. The time taken to produce a beautifully handcrafted ring may take longer, but you will end up with something unique you can treasure for a lifetime. That in itself is well worth the cost of any handmade jewelry item you acquire and is why people tend to value handmade jewelry more.
Most jewelry companies only offer their rings in specific sizes. They might only have the ring you like available in whole sizes or half-sizes to a certain degree. When you get a hand made ring we're much more likely to get it to fit exactly the way you want. I mean do you want to forgo ring sizes altogether and send us an email saying you need your custom ring to be .769 inches in diameter? Our craftsmen can handle that!
The jewelry making process for handmade products differs vastly from the jewelry making process for mass-produced products. Typically, mass-produced products require little to no human oversight and require just a simple click of a button to make. The making of artisan jewelry requires a lot more effort and time. Each handmade piece is crafted with thought and integrity and can be seen as a unique collectible piece. We are constantly pushing the envelope by coming up with new arrivals and jewelry designs and are able to do so because of our unique jewelry making process. This special process is well documented over on our Patrick Adair Designs YouTube Channel.

In this article, we'll go over what tungsten is, why it's become so popular, and offer some samples of the sharpest looking rings.
Tungsten is a silvery metal with the highest melting point of any pure metal. It's commonly known for use in lightbulbs and heating fixtures due to that high melting point.
Tungsten rings are made from Tungsten Carbide, which is produced through bonding carbon and tungsten together. This increases its strength and durability. Tungsten carbide drill bits are common very common in machining due to this reason. Patrick Adair Designs utilizes a jewelry-grade Tungsten Carbide that exhibits a great amount of durability.
These rings can take some damage, heat, and stress. Tungsten wedding bands are a perfect choice for those who use their hands a lot or live a crazy lifestyle.
The Moh's hardness scale is a determiner of what the strongest minerals are on the planet. Pure tungsten comes in at a 7.5, while tungsten carbide (what most tungsten rings are made of) comes in at an incredible 9.5 rating. These rings are incredibly strong. Compare that with 18K rose gold which comes in at under 3 on the hardness scale.
What's that mean for the wearer? It means they won't scratch, they won't wear or easily degrade, and that they can keep their sheen and luster for a lifetime, with very little to no maintenance.
Tungsten carbide wedding bands not tarnish or oxidize like silver rings, even if they have ion plating or other coatings on them.
There's a reason jeweler's call Tungsten Carbide rings scratch proof. These are tough rings and their owners should take note. There's little chance these rings will ever need to be replaced and are very easy to maintain and clean.
A valid concern for many is if that ring is so strong, what happens if it gets stuck on in an emergency situation? Let's break down some of the facts.
If something is extremely scratch resistant, it is inversely crack-resistant, which is the case with tungsten rings.
Tungsten rings can be removed if needed. Emergency responders carry tools strong enough to break through tungsten rings and, in many cases, they're easier to get off than traditional gold rings, which warp and flex and dig into the wearer's skin. Tungsten rings, meanwhile won't warp but will crack and break under extreme pressure.
That doesn't mean there should be zero caution. Like any metallic wedding ring, there runs some risk when wearing a tungsten ring while doing extreme activities.
Extreme sports, weightlifting, bow-hunting, and other situations can prove dangerous if wearing a metallic ring, so take note of when and where and when to wear your tungsten wedding ring.
There are plenty of designs when it comes to tungsten carbide rings. Due to how durable and hard tungsten rings are, the designs of a men's tungsten ring can be a bit sparse. They tend to be quite simple and the only variations are the cuts and finishes of the ring. Luckily, at Patrick Adair Designs, you have the ability to customize your own Tungsten Glowstone Inlay Ring to have your own colors and exotic materials/gems.
Before diving in, let's talk about these different finishes and cuts that you should know about.
Cuts are the way that the ring curves (or doesn't) around the finger. For example, the edges could be straight, flat, rounded or beveled. Beveled edges have slowly become more and more popular for men's wedding bands while most people still prefer rounded edges since they are the most comfortable on a regular basis.
When purchasing rounded edges, look for labels that read 'Comfort Fit' for a ring that feels and wears tremendously well. All Patrick Adair Designs men's tungsten wedding bands are beveled and comfort fit.
Next, there are a few different finishes that can be put on tungsten rings. One of the more popular finishes available for tungsten bands is a brushed finish. The ring will have a brushed center that is extremely subtle but will add a nice touch to the ring. Another great feature of tungsten is that it holds a high-polish extremely well, meaning that it will not lose its shine and luster. A high-polish finish is by far the most popular finish for traditional wedding bands. All Patrick Adair Designs tungsten wedding bands are offered with high polished beveled edges. Matte rings are also becoming quite popular. These replace the sleek, shimmering surfaces of a ring with a softer, less-shiny surface texture.
Hammered finishes are a more modern approach to ring design. This leaves a textured look on a ring that's hardy, powerful, and one-of-a-kind.
Patrick Adair Designs tungsten rings are customizable and meant to reflect the wearer as intimately as possible. Our tungsten carbide rings come with numerous inlays with different qualities and features.
Something we pride ourselves on is our colored and glowing inlays. Our Tungsten Glowstone Ring is a perfect example of this.
You can choose your daytime color, the glow color, and the inlay material you'd prefer for a one-of-a-kind ring. These can be as simple as malachite or copper, to as marvelous and extravagant as uncut diamonds, or even real meteorite.
Another perk of Tungsten rings is their cost. You can craft a ring truly unlike anything else for a fraction of the price of a traditional gold ring. This comes with the extra perk that it will not damage or tarnish.
One thing to consider when purchasing a tungsten ring is that due to its high melting point, it cannot be resized later on. If you are unsure of your ring size, we can send you a free ring sizer before making your order through our "Request a Ring Sizer" size option. You can also google search to find a local jeweler who can fit you with an accurate ring size. Of course, because of the cost differential, you'll be able to pay for two or three tungsten rings for the price of one normal golden one.
At Patrick Adair Design, we're committed to crafting only the best looking and most comfortable rings to go with your perfect wedding. Tungsten rings offer immense style and durability for a reasonable cost.
Search our shop for our complete Tungsten collection and feel free to craft and create your own using our tools as a base. Make your perfect day shine with a Tungsten Carbide ring.
]]>How much is a meteorite worth? How can you tell a real from a fake? Learn the answers to these and more in our guide today.
Whenever we see a shooting star burning out or a comet making its way across the sky, many of us wonder whether those hunks of space material will fall all the way down to us.
It's pretty rare for one to reach earth, but there are a lot of iron meteorites that make their way to the ground every year. They don't smash down into the earth like you'd imagine an asteroid would, so we tend not to notice them land.
Meteorite worth varies, but these rare materials typically fetch a fair price. We're going to explore meteorite value in this article, giving you a better idea of what to pay for meteorite jewelry.
Meteorites aren't valued strictly based on one thing or another. Just like everything else, there are a number of factors that go into the particular value of any one meteorite.
The most important factor is the weight. One man in Michigan found a 22-pound meteorite which he cashed in to the tune of $100,000 dollars. It happened to be a rare specimen that held value to the scientific community, which is why it came with such a high price tag.
In fact, if you were to find a meteorite and verify it, it would be a smart move to offer it up to the scientific community for temporary study. Meteorites that have been used in scientific studies are worth more than ones that haven't.
There's a wide variety of minerals floating around in space. It isn't as if all meteorites are just "space rocks" that look like gravel. The nature of the meteorite will play a big part in its value.
Some unclassified meteorites will sell for around 50 cents per gram. More beautiful stones such as pallasites contain crystals and can look extremely dazzling when they're polished. Those can range all the way up to $40 dollars a gram.
Rarer stones can fetch up to $1000 per gram if they're in good condition. So, if you're looking into buying some meteorite and are curious about the high price tag, make sure to look into the quality of the stone and what that mineral typically costs on the market.
A good vendor should always be willing to disclose that information before you go ahead with the purchase.
Meteorite stones that were gathered from significant falls can also be worth more money. Stones that come down as a part of a historic moment are more valuable to collectors.
Meteorites that are sighted fetch a higher price. "Sighted" meteorites are those that fell down in view of someone who was able to find the location where it landed. These stones exist in contrast to those that were just discovered as someone was walking around.
Being able to prove and document the siting of a fall is a great way to increase the value and offer some added scientific value to those who would study it.
There are also a lot of meteorite materials you might come across that were once a part of a significant fall. Maybe a grouping of stones fell and shattered apart, or one significant mass fell down and split into smaller groupings on the ground.
The less fragmentation involved, the higher the price. In general, if a stone falls down and is not shattered or broken in many ways, that stone will be worth a lot more money.
When it comes to meteorite jewelry, prices will vary from jeweler to jeweler. After all is said and done with the finding and pricing of individual stones, you have to consider the craftsmanship and work that went into turning those meteorites into jewelry.
The most common meteorites used for jewelry are Muonionalusta and Gibeon. Patrick Adair Designs solely uses Muonionalusta for their meteorite rings because it is one of the more stable and durable meteorites available.
Odds are, those who are crafting and selling meteorite jewelry are good at what they do. The price of meteorite jewelry can be dozens of times the price of gold, so those who work with these materials are skilled and confident enough to work with precious stones. In fact, meteorite is a much more difficult material to work with than gold. This paired with the scarcity of meteorite makes this type of jewelry more expensive and coveted.
So, if you're seeing that a piece of jewelry you like is far more expensive than the worth of the particular meteorite, it is because meteorite is more difficult to work with and scarcer. Odds are if a jeweler is selling a meteorite piece for cheap, that the meteorite they are using is fake.
Whether you're buying jewelry or just a piece of meteorite, make sure you check that you're working with an honest vendor.
There are a lot of people who find something that looks like a meteorite and doesn't bother to get it verified. Check out our other blog post on how to verify the authenticity of a meteorite piece. The thing about minerals in space and those on earth is that they can look very similar. We all want to believe that the stone we're picking up is worth a great deal of money and came down straight from space. In reality, only a fraction of those "meteorites" that get inspected turn out to be the real deal.
Your best bet is to purchase stones from well-established merchants that have numerous reviews online. Buying a meteorite from a random seller on eBay, on the other hand, probably isn't the best way to go.
When you do find a reputable seller, still check into the specifics of the stone and investigate whether or not it's selling for the correct price. It's an area of the market that many people don't fully understand, so it's easy for some sellers to get away with making a little extra money.
The specifics of meteorite value are well-documented, though, so you can get a good idea of the accurate value if you can get the specifications of the stone.
The details of meteorite worth depend on the specifics of the stone. The price can range wildly from stone to stone, and it's important to have a good idea of details about the piece of meteorite that you're purchasing.

]]>With this guide, you’ll learn how much should you spend on a wedding ring. That way, you won’t break the bank after your wedding ceremony concludes. Read on to find out more!
The first thing you should always consider is the budget you have for your wedding. Don't forget that you'll have to divvy your entire budget to every aspect of your wedding. With a lot of the wedding expenses going to the venue and catering services, you may have little left to cover for your wedding rings.
Some couples will want to spend more on ensuring their big day is as perfect as possible, whereas some will splurge more when it comes to the rings. More and more people are pouring an increasing amount of money into their wedding bands nowadays. This is often because they want to have something to show on their social media profiles. How much you should spend on your wedding rings depends on whether or not you are looking for a flashy or expensive ring. If your financial situation is favorable, you have plenty of options to choose from. At the end of the day, you'll want to choose a ring you love because it will be on your ring finger for the rest of your life.
The big thing to consider is your monthly income. In a traditional setting, when you get engaged, you have a lot of time before your big day. This gives you enough time to save up as much as you can to spend on your wedding. The general rule of thumb these days is two allocate two months salary towards your wedding ring. For example, if you made $100,000 a year, that means you should spend up to $20,000 on your wedding rings. If $20,000 seems like a lot, don't worry as that is just a general guide and by no means do you need to spend that much.
You also have to factor in your living expenses and how deducting from them will affect your living situation. It's not worth it to have a month without proper bill payments to cover your expenses or accumulate debt/put off debt (i.e. student loans) when buying a ring. It's also not worth it to compromise your health for the sake of buying a wedding ring. If you're within the lower income bracket, it's best that you set aside at least six months' worth of your income. Remember to set aside some funds for your essentials when doing this, though.
Again, this is all subjective and the main determining factor is how much you value your ring. You should set a budget for yourself based on your income and then do some ring shopping. Shopping for your wedding band could not be easier nowadays as you can shop from the comfort of your own home with the increase in online retailers and jewelry stores.
Your significant others' expectations play a big role in how much you should spend on an wedding/engagement ring.
When doing this, it's important to meet your partner's expectations. If you know your partner well enough, you should have a sense of what they will want as a ring from you. You can also ask their family for guidance and advice if you're having a hard time thinking of what they'll want.
You can also ask your partner directly to see what kind of ring they want. Doing this removes the surprise factor, but you may find out that you don't need to spend as much when you do this. Once you have an idea of what to get, use this to gauge the pricing of your ring.
In the end, it shouldn't matter to them what kind of ring they get. All that should matter is that it's from their partner and that it symbolizes their love and commitment for each other.
We've discussed in detail about how personal things such as budget, income, and expectations affect how much to spend on a wedding ring, but another big factor is the ring itself. What material do you want the ring made from? Are you looking for something traditional with a center stone or something more exotic/unique? What about a special gemstone or birthstone? These are all important questions you should ask yourself while you are ring shopping. Whatever you have in mind, there is a great chance that you'll be able to find the perfect ring for you with the sheer amount of jewelers available!
Probably the most important thing in determining a ring's price is the materials used for it. Diamond engagement rings and wedding bands have become a staple nowadays. As The De Beers Company famously coined, "A Diamond is Forever". Diamonds can also be extremely expensive depending on a few factors like carat size, carat weight, diamond size, etc.
Patrick Adair Designs specializes in high quality handmade custom jewelry. We pride ourselves in being able to do extremely custom orders that a typical jeweler would not be able to. At Patrick Adair Designs, you are likely to find everything you need at an affordable price tag. We also offer a Lifetime Warranty for every single product on our website, which is extremely important to take into account since you will be wearing your wedding ring every single day for the rest of your life!
With this guide, you'll know what to consider before you set out to buy one. The important thing is to not feel pressured to spend a certain amount of money based on income and expectations. You should spend however much you are comfortable to on a wedding ring.

]]>Custom jewelry offers a unique yet fashionable way of expressing yourself. Though jewelry trends come and go, custom pieces remain timeless and are often very personal to the owner.
Patrick Adair Designs specializes in custom made jewelry. This article covers some jewelry buying tips when looking for your next piece. Read on and find out more with our custom jewelry buying guide!
Every new investment starts with a budget. If you're buying custom made jewelry for the first time, it's always best to have a budget. A jewelry design may get more expensive as you choose more customizations.
The cost of a custom jewelry piece comes from the time and labor it takes to make it. Before deciding on a design, it's best to have a budget first.
This helps keep you on track and narrow down your customization options. You can contact us for a ballpark estimate. This can give you some idea of how much you may spend on a certain design.
Don't forget to take your timeline into consideration if you're getting a piece for an event. If you're looking to get custom made engagement rings, don't expect them to arrive within the next day. The time it takes to make a custom piece will vary depending on complexity of design, materials required, etc.
The average time we need for a custom order is roughly six weeks. If you have a more complex project in mind, this may take up to or more than eight weeks.
It's always best to play it safe by giving us or any other jeweler a buffer period of a few months. Even if things pan out slower than expected, you will still be able to receive your custom piece in time.
When customizing jewelry, it's good practice to do research first. This will allow you to gather ideas to come up with a design you're happy with. Your preferred style may vary from vintage, modern, and other types of jewelry.
However, an idea may sometimes not be enough. Asking your jeweler for something unique may produce various results. If you don't have any specifications for your custom design, create a sketch instead.
You may also create a collage using images you used for inspiration. This can range from mixed metals and organic lines to filigrees. If you want to get your dream custom jewelry, you need to know how to communicate your idea.
One of the most unique parts about Patrick Adair Designs is our ability to create custom rings. When Patrick Adair Designs first started in 2015 all of our business was commission based (no two rings were ever alike).
We currently offer three different options for custom rings. You can get a custom Glowstone ring (this process is very simple and pricing is streamlined). You can have a ring customized by one of our artisans in the shop (this process is a little more complex and varies on price a little more). The third option is you can apply for a ring to be made us and featured in a YouTube video (this process is very complex and fairly expensive)!
We really pride ourselves on our ability to create custom wedding bands at Patrick Adair Designs. If you can dream it, we can most likely achieve it! Unlike other jewelry stores, we handmake every single piece of jewelry. This means that every piece is high quality and one-of-a-kind. Our craftsmen make every piece deliberately, with thought and integrity. Most big name jewelry stores will manufacture their rings through machines in a boring way. At Patrick Adair Designs, craftsmanship matters the most.
One of the very first things you need to look into when commissioning a custom piece from a jewelry designer is their Warranty Policy. A Warranty Policy is essential to protect your investment, even with a trusted jeweler.
Check if your jeweler or retailer provides aftercare or warranties. It will give you an idea of what the jeweler can do if you need to resize your ring. If you're getting your custom piece insured, note that it's custom made.
Patrick Adair Designs offers a full Lifetime Warranty on every single product, custom pieces included. Custom rings are not eligible for a size exchange, however to ensure you order the correct size, you can be sent a free ring sizing kit before your ring is made.
Have you been searching for the perfect ring but are unable to find it? Look no further, as Patrick Adair Designs can achieve your wildest dreams. If you're looking for a timeless piece or something personal with your favorite gemstones, birthstones, or a family heirloom piece, you have come to the right place!

While the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic rattled the wedding industry and many couples' wedding plans, there is nothing that can get in the way of love and commitment.
There are so many little details behind the traditions of weddings that it can be hard to keep up.
In this one, we'll talk about the right way to wear a wedding ring. Let's take a look at everything you need to know.
The traditional spot for your wedding ring is on your left ring finger. The tradition of wearing a wedding ring on this finger started all the way back in ancient Rome, as they believe that the vein in the left ring finger ran all the way to one's heart. They call this vein the vein of love and it signified love and romance by wearing their wedding band on this finger.
Some people might choose to wear their wedding band alone on their left-hand ring finger. Others might choose to wear both their engagement ring and their wedding band together on the same finger. A common way to wear them is by placing them in the order that you receive them. This would mean that your engagement ring on the bottom of your finger and you would place the wedding ring on top of it.
While it is traditional to wear the wedding ring and engagement ring together in this way and in this order, there are not necessarily any set rules. Depending on the shape of the rings in their style, wearing them the other way around might be more practical. You could say that having the wedding ring on the bottom keeps it closer to the heart.
Another option is to wear your engagement ring and your wedding band on separate hands. This is not a traditional way of wearing your wedding ring, but there are plenty of good reasons someone might want to wear their rings this way. For example:
Some people even decide that it works best for them to alternate between their engagement ring and their wedding band. In some circumstances, an individual might decide to save their more expensive ring for special occasions. Other people might just not feel particularly comfortable wearing two rings at once.
While there are a lot of wonderful reasons why it can be nice to follow tradition, you have every right to wear your wedding ring in whatever way makes sense for you. Most people who wear their engagement rings tend to stick to the tradition of wearing them on their left ring finger. However, few people will give you a hard time if you decide to break the rules a little.
If you're feeling particularly creative, or if you simply hate wearing rings on your fingers, there are a number of creative ways that you can display your wedding band.
For one, you can wear your wedding band as a necklace. This is a wonderful option if you participate in activities or work where wearing a ring could get in the way or even be dangerous. Simply find a jewelry chain that you find attractive and slide the wedding ring onto it. This way, you can display your wedding ring close to your heart in a way that works for you.
Are you looking for a truly unique wedding ring to wear creatively? Check out our custom glowstone rings here.
What is the right way to wear a wedding ring? That ultimately depends on you! There is no clear-cut "right" way to wear your ring. It's going to differ depending on who you are, where you come from, and the religious tradition you follow.
For example, in several of the countries where the dominant religion is Catholicism, it is actually common for people to wear wedding rings on their right hand rather than their left hand. In some Indian cultures, it is traditional for newlyweds to wear their wedding ring as a nose piercing.
There are many different ways to wear a wedding ring. If you are trying to decide how to wear a wedding ring, consider the different traditional and nontraditional options and see what feels right for you.

]]>There's no such thing as one size fits all, especially when it comes to getting a wedding band. If your fingers are larger than the standard band sizes available, you might be out of luck when it comes to shopping at big brand name jewelers. Most jewelers, will only offer ring sizes up to Size 13.5 (22.6mm inside diameter). This is because larger rings are generally harder to make and cost more. Keep reading to learn more on how to find the perfect plus sized wedding band, how much it may cost you, and what options are available.
Choosing a wedding band is difficult, and finding the right plus-sized band may be tougher, especially for those with wider fingers and knuckles. Or is it? The average jeweler store may not be able to help everyone who does not fit in the standard size, but this doesn't apply to every store.
Patrick Adair Designs offers every single one of their rings in sizing up to 15. We can even go wider than size 15 for some rings per request! Since every ring is handmade, made to order, we have a great amount of flexibility when it comes to sizing! At Patrick Adair Designs, you are guaranteed to find the perfect plus size ring for yourself with so many unique styles, custom designs, and materials available.
When shopping for the perfect wedding band, cost is a major consideration. Larger wedding bands can be more expensive due to the fact that more material is required for the ring.
Most Jewelers will require an extra charge for any ring over a certain size. However, Patrick Adair Designs does not charge extra for their plus size rings!
Don't let the cost of a wedding band deter you from getting something you want so long as it's something you can afford in your financial situation. The cost for a wedding band may fit anyone's budget if you decide to take advantage of financing options.
Most people may think there are fewer options when it comes to plus size wedding bands because they are less common. This couldn't be further from the truth. You can find an excellent selection of rings in beautiful designs here at Patrick Adair Designs.
The options of plus-sized rings available are limitless. We will work with you to find the right size, shape, and material you seek.
The most common materials used in wedding bands are gold and platinum. Precious metals are very attractive but they also tend to come with a big price tag, especially for plus-sized wedding bands.
If you're not sure which material you want for you or your partner, you can also get advice from a jeweler who will give you their best recommendation. From there you can weigh the pros and cons of each to determine which one is the right one.
The style of the band is another factor you want to look into. Wedding bands are made to compliment the engagement ring for women. You can get the right look by putting thought into it.
For women, you may want to add an intricate detail or change something with the shape. Most male wedding bands are simpler. Of course, gender doesn't matter in the end when you're selecting the most suitable band or ring for your partner.
Look for a jeweler who will go to great lengths to make certain your options are not limited in any way, no matter what size you require while maintaining quality.
Love comes in all shapes and sizes. This is especially true when it comes to wedding bands. Patrick Adair Designs offers high-quality custom made wedding bands in sizes up to 15! Looking into plus-sized bands is just as enjoyable when you get one from Patrick Adair Designs because there are a variety of options available. Be sure to contact us if you have any questions.

You can insert any text up to 20 characters to be etched into the ring. The engraving can include numbers and symbols as well as letters, so the sky is the limit as to what you can include.
Many choose to etch their loved ones' names into the ring or choose to print both of their initials. This is a great way to show that the two of you are in your own little beautiful universe.
You can also include a short quote, proverb, or inside joke between the two of you. If you can think of it, it can be incorporated into your ring!
While there are many types of special jewelry on the market, nothing is quite as amazing as our Star Dust Ring. This piece allows the wearer to take a piece of the universe with them everywhere that they go as a reminder that both they and the world around them are infinite.
Order a Star Dust ring today as a gift for yourself or to give to a loved one. Each ring comes with a Lifetime Warranty Policy and a free size exchange. Our experts are also happy to help you customize the ring prior to ordering so that the recipient has a ring as unique as your relationship with them is.
]]>But let's be real, surprises are the best and usually make for better proposals. The only question is, how do you pull a surprise off without spoiling it? Not only does it require stealthy planning, it requires the purchase of an engagement ring... and not everyone knows their partner's ring size by heart.
Below are seven ways to find your partner's ring size without blowing the whole plan!
Is there a ring you know fits them well that you can get ahold of for a few hours? Perhaps a ring they wear on their right ring finger?
This is the most accurate way to figure out your partner's ring size. Take it to a jeweler and have them measure it, or compare it to a ring sizer you can buy online. They'll be able to tell you the ring size and you'll be good to go.
Make sure they wear it on their ring finger, of course, as everyone's individual fingers are different sizes while typically their dominant hand will be bigger.
How do you find out your partner's ring size if you can't steal one of their rings? Ask a family member or friend.
They might know because it might have been discussed — and if they don't, the question is likely to sound a lot less suspicious coming from someone else.
Try to make it someone that they don't expect you to have any contact with. That way, when the question is asked from them, they'll seriously doubt it came from you.
Don't talk to their best friend much, for example? Sounds like the perfect person for the job.
If your partner really won't suspect a thing and you can get away with a little more, pretend you're buying a ring for someone else — a parent or family member, and take them shopping with you. Maybe your Mother's birthday is coming up and you want to treat her to something special.
While playing around and trying on rings at a local jeweler, you can encourage your partner to look around too, and keep an eye on the sizes they try on and what fits well.
Finding someone's ring size isn't easy, and there will always be a slight risk of giving the game away, so to be sure to really hammer home the story of whoever this ring is supposedly for.
If you buy a ring sizer for yourself and leaving it lying around, you can goof off at home and play around with it. Chances are your partner will get curious and try it out too.
Even if they already have an existing ring, they may still be curious what their actual finger size is.
Is your partner a deep sleeper? If so, Put a piece of string around their finger and mark it while they are asleep. If done correctly, it can accurately measure their ring size. This can also be done with a piece of paper, although the string method tends to be much more accurate. Floss is a great alternative to string as well!
Of course, it's game over if your partner wakes up, so you need to be quite sure they'll sleep through this. Some people won't wake up if there was a hurricane blowing through the neighborhood, so this is the kind of person that this trick will work on.
When holding hands or just playing around together, try to compare your fingers on their left hand. This isn't the most scientific method and it may not be completely accurate, but you'll get pretty close. Check your own ring size with a ring sizer then measure your fingers against your partner's.
It's not as good as having a solid answer but some people will catch onto any hints very quickly, and those are the people where it's important to be very careful not to give the game away!
You should be able to make an educated guess based on your hand vs. theirs and the most common ring sizes. This is obviously not the most accurate way to get an accurate ring size so you need to make sure the jeweler you purchase the engagement ring from will offer a free resize.
If you're really sure your partner isn't going to catch on to what you're doing, you can ask.
Say it's for something else or just in case you need to know in the future. They might end up suspicious but if you could really talk them out of believing you're going to propose soon, this might work.
If getting the perfect ring size is the most important thing to you, over ruining the surprise, then go with this method. Even if they guess what you're doing, it'll still be lovely when you present them with a ring that fits like a glove — and the most important thing is to take care of it.
When trying to work out how to find someone's ring size, you might get stressed out. You might be trying different methods with no success, or be truly afraid they're going to find out what you're doing. Even worse, you might spend thousand of dollars on the perfect engagement ring but have it not be a perfect fit for your partner.
If you're worried about getting the size slightly wrong, then shop at a place that will be willing to accommodate you. You'll want to do research on different jewelry stores' size policies. Patrick Adair Designs has a free size-exchange policy on all non-custom rings - no questions asked! If your guesstimate ends up being off and you need a resizing, it's no problem whatsoever.
Shop for a beautiful ring for your significant other and focus on the ring itself, rather than the nagging concern that you've picked the wrong size.
Your wedding planning days have begun and the game is finally afoot! You and your partner have been planning your budgets, but you’re not entirely sure how much of your wedding budget should go where. A good chunk of your budget will unsurprisingly be going to your wedding ring and with a purchase so large, you’re looking for other purchase options you can potentially take to settle your payments in other, less expensive, and more convenient ways. There's definitely a lot to consider when making one of the biggest purchases of your life, and one that represents your forever at that. Do you make a full payment or monthly payment in cash, use a credit card, or get a personal loan? We're here to explain what wedding ring financing is and how it works!
The general and most popular recommendation for this is to spend at least 2-3 months worth of your salary on your wedding or engagement ring. This rule has been tried and tested, and many bridal stores, wedding planners and experts would highly recommend sticking to this rule. However, every person will be different and will value a wedding ring differently. Take this as a rule of thumb but don't feel pressured to follow it.
Surveys show that the average amount spent on wedding rings in 2021 sits at a whopping $5,900, with a quarter of survey respondents spending around $1000-$3000, so the three month rule definitely comes in quite handy for those aiming for a really impressive wedding band! However, considering the amount of jewelry stores that produce wedding and engagement rings made out of alternative, yet equally beautiful and durable materials, wedding rings need not be as pricey as what they commonly were. The cost of wedding bands with alternative metals have become quite affordable and so more and more people are moving on from the “three month salary” rule, and are quite happy with their purchases!
At the end of the day, how much you spend on your wedding ring will be entirely up to you and your significant other!

Of course you can! While it is highly recommended that you pay cash with major purchases such as wedding rings, sometimes this simply isn’t an option whether it be due to budget constraints or if you choose an online retailer to purchase your ring from which mostly handles their payments online. If that’s the case, then financing alternatives for your wedding ring is certainly an option you can take! Financing your wedding ring can come in many different ways: some people tend to make personal loans, while others are paired with trusted payment providers or financial institutions that help make purchasing momentous items like these more convenient to fit your lifestyle! Please note if you do finance your wedding ring with a financial institution, you will likely be subject to a credit approval and will need to make minimum payments with interest dependent on your credit score.

How wide are men's wedding bands on average? How wide men's wedding bands should be doesn’t seem like much of a concern, but believe us when we say that even the slightest difference in millimeters will make or break your dream ring! To help you get started on the wedding ring hunting journey, we’ve prepared a quick rundown on men's wedding band widths and thickness that you’ll surely be able to learn from in no time!
Measurements, especially when it concerns rings, are very important thing to take note of, and it is just as important that you know about it too! Width, in particular, simply refers to how wide something is from one side to another. It shows how broad or narrow a ring is.
Rings, much like a considerable number of things, have particular elements that differ from each other while making up the band. We feel it is important to know these differences, as they will certainly come in handy on the day you decide to go shopping for your wedding ring! Ring widths, for instance, refer to how wide your band is, and is seen when a ring is worn. This is not to be confused with ring thickness–referring to how much material is used in crafting, and is seen from the side or the profile of the ring.bsite, making your purchase free.
Most jewelry stores offer ring width sizes from 2mm to 9mm. Some jewelry stores even go all the way up to 12mm, but these are not quite as common. Ring widths come in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate every type of finger size! Just like pretty much any type of accessory, some ring widths look better on certain types of fingers more than others. In general, we recommend if your ring size is above size 8, to go with an 8mm ring. This is definitely not the end all be all, though. For instance, a wider band may look a bit too large on short or thinner fingers, and smaller ring widths may make your fingers look even longer and more slender. Our recommendation is to try on as many different types of bands as possible to see what looks the best and feels the most comfortable for your set of hands!
Finding a ring width to fit your finger type shouldn’t be a difficult endeavor to take, as there are quick guides to help you out! A general rule would be to get narrow bands for slim fingers, and wider rings for larger finger sizes! Alternatively, you could always start with the average ring width, and work your way up or down from there!
Over at Patrick Adair Designs, you are able to customize your ring according to your sizes and tastes, and we offer rings in widths that go from 3mm to 10mm.

Unlike ring widths, dealing with ring thickness is an entirely different thing altogether. While ring widths have various sizes that accommodate different finger types, rings need to be of a certain thickness so as not to bend, crack, or break.
Men’s rings are generally recommended to have a thickness of at least 2mm, and most, if not, all men’s rings usually start out this size, even ones that come in a standard or comfort fit! You do have the option to choose a thicker wedding band, which would definitely help in the durability area, but anything below 1.5mm may be a risk you wouldn’t want to take! Depending on the material, some rings may be thicker for durability concerns.

Having the staff in on the surprise may just be the key to having a smooth-sailing proposal! Going for something food related, don’t be afraid to speak directly to the chef for some tips! Need a perfect drink for your proposal like a special bottle of wine? Approach the waiter in charge, barista, or sommelier for some quality advice on which wines or champagnes will work best with your meal. You may even want to request for shareable plates, to make the dining experience extra romantic. You’d be surprised with how much the restaurant staff would be willing to help, whether it be to provide creative ideas, go along with a script, or even document the entire thing for you!
Now, on to the ideas! Like we’ve said before, there are a number of creative ways to propose at a restaurant, and while these suggestions are full proof, you are absolutely free to mix, match, or come up with your very own!
The waiter approaches your table with what seems to be both your meals in hand, and gently places down your partner’s plate, with “Will you marry me?” written beautifully in a chocolate sauce, beautifully designed with flower petals and other charming embellishments with your engagement ring at the very center. Simple, classic, discreet.
Your meal isn’t over yet, but you and your partner could sure use a drink. A bottle of the finest champagne perhaps? The waiter comes by to serve you your glasses, and just as you’re both about to take a sip, your partner takes notice of a twinkling at the bottom of the glass. Oh? What’s this? A beautiful ring? A full-proof plan, we guarantee it.
You’ve just arrived at the restaurant, and the entire ride there you’ve been trying your absolute hardest to not show any signs of nervousness. You’ve left the arranging to the staff, and hope it all goes well. The waiter or waitress directs you to your table all smiles, and as you both take your seat, your partner notices the heartfelt letter you’ve written, along with a beautifully folded napkin with an engagement ring holding it all together.
Effort is your love language, and there’s no denying it. You both excitedly take your seats at the restaurant, and the waiter approaches you both with what seems to look like the very same menu they provide customers everyday. What your partner doesn’t know, however, is that you’ve made a copy of the menu, and have replaced one, two, or a few menu items with your wedding proposal messages. “Yes, I think I’ll have the “Will you marry me” soup as a start.”
Before answering this question, consider how well you can handle your nerves. Proposing before dinner can easily alleviate your pre-proposal anxiety, not to mention having a good meal after such a big moment could be the perfect celebration you and your partner deserve. Alternatively, if you think you can sit through dinner just fine, proposing after dinner is also a solid choice–there’s nothing like freely popping a bottle of champagne and enjoying your engagement on a full stomach!

Stainless Steel vs Sterling Silver? While these popular metals have similarities in terms of color, sterling silver and stainless steel are vastly different metals suited for different kinds of lifestyles. In this article we provide you with a quick and easy comparison between the two in the hopes of helping you make your necessary wedding decisions easier and a little more convenient!
Stainless Steel: an alloy of steel that contains 10-30% chromium. Can contain other elements like nickel, molybdenum, titanium, and aluminum depending on its purpose, to help increase its resistance to corrosion in certain environments and add other special characteristics. There are over 100 different types of stainless steel, different types for different purposes.
Sterling Silver: Not to be confused with pure silver, sterling silver is also a metal alloy that contains just a touch (around 7.5%, to be exact) of other elements, also to enhance certain characteristics natural to silver. Sterling silver is usually comprised of other elements such as copper or zinc.

Stainless Steel: It’s undeniable that stainless steel is one amongst the most versatile materials with a plethora of different purposes ranging from the most industrial to the everyday. A lot of stainless steel alloys are made with nickel, which could trigger allergic reactions, especially when your skin leans more towards the sensitive side.
Considering that there are various types of stainless steel, there do exist variations of stainless steel that contain little to no traces of nickel whatsoever, making it absolutely safe to wear as jewelry, even for those with sensitive skin. Many jewelry stores make use of nickel-free stainless steel, but we still do encourage that you double check and make sure that your desired piece of stainless steel jewelry is safe for you or your partner to wear!
Sterling Silver: Considering that metals like nickel are the common culprits of causing allergic reactions and skin irritations in jewelry, sterling silver rings are typically a safe option for those with sensitive skin, as most sterling silver alloys do not contain any kind of nickel or other allergens in their chemical composition and are 100% hypoallergenic.
Stainless Steel: One of the main reasons why this metal has become so popular is because of its strength and durability. Stainless steel is commonly known for being used in kitchen appliances and construction tools, so its really no surprise that durability is one of its many strong suits. Stainless steel can withstand not only hard impact that could otherwise bend or damage other metals, but also resist corrosion and hold out well against varying temperatures.
Sterling Silver: Sterling silver is more durable than normal silver and gold, due to its unique alloy. While this material certainly does not have the kind of durability that stainless steel possesses, we wouldn’t be so quick to conclude that sterling silver is one that is weak. A considerable amount of silverware, kitchenware, and coins are made out of sterling silver, and are sturdy enough to handle a beating over its lifetime.

Sterling Silver: While sterling silver does definitely come cheaper than the luxurious gold, silver, and platinum, jewelry made out of this delicate metal will more often than not lean more towards the pricier side of the spectrum. Planning a budget for sterling silver jewelry is always a good idea and when the price seems a bit too good to be true, then we highly suggest that you double check that the metal in question is an authentic sterling silver piece.

The marriage of two materials in jewelry has always been a practice in the industry. Some combinations are made to enhance, support, or protect other materials from the damages due to daily wear and tear. Other matches are made to produce very beautiful and elaborate designs that are meant to catch people’s attention or send a message. The combination of gold and meteorite does exactly this to create the wonderful gold meteorite ring.
Gold has a rich history, spanning centuries from various cultures. It is and always has been a material coveted by many. Kings, Queens, and other prestigious figures have adorned themselves and their palaces with gold. Its association to spirituality is also equally strong and apparent, as it is used not only for places of worship, but also for materials and artifacts that help carry out sacred practices.
Its symbolism and meaning can surely vary based on whichever aspect you wish to see it as, but it is most popularly known for symbolizing wealth, status, and abundance. Back then, money was in the form of gold coins rather than paper. Other cultures have made known their own meanings of gold, associating the material with luck, prosperity, fertility, and wisdom.

A meteorite is nothing else but a shooting star that has landed on the surface of the earth. They are not to be confused with meteors or asteroids, despite having been those things prior to landing on earth. Their distinctions come mainly from where these extraterrestrial rocks are in their journey. They initially start off as asteroids that float peacefully in space until they penetrate the earth’s atmosphere and succumb to the pull of gravity, making them burn as they fall–these are meteors, otherwise known as shooting stars. Some meteors do not survive, as the flames could consume these meteors fully. The ones that do survive are known as meteorites. Today, there has been over 60,000 types of meteorites discovered!
When looking for meteorite jewelry, make sure that the meteorite that you have is a real meteorite. There are certain tell-tale signs that will show you that what you have is a real meteorite. The most common sign that you have a real meteorite is that it has a characteristic pattern called Widmanstatten pattern which is unique in each genuine meteorite that you find. To find more tips on owning an actual meteorite, read our Meteorite Ring Guide.

Combining gold and meteorite in jewelry, especially as gold meteorite wedding bands, is no new innovative discovery, but it certainly is one that works very well for multiple reasons. History tells us that even during the early days of the meteorite’s discovery, materials like gold and silver have been handcrafted and adorned alongside them to create a dazzling contrast between the meteorite’s dark, patterned surface with the smoothness and shine of gold.
Before achieving these contrasting patterns, however, the meteorite requires an etching process to bring out the pattern ingrained in its chemical composition. Acids and other strong chemicals are used in order for this to take place, chemicals that may not react well to some precious metals, with the exception of gold. Gold, in particular, is known to be one of the least reactive elements, capable of withstanding the harsh chemicals and acids used for the meteorite etching, all while maintaining its pristine and shine.

Taking into consideration the kind of things that occupy your daily life is just one of the many important things that must be remembered when deciding on a wedding band. For the average working man, choices may seem limited, as many of the traditional wedding band people normally choose - like platinum rings and gold wedding bands - aren’t suited for days that involve a lot of hard activity. You wouldn’t want a precious metal wedding band that rusts, corrodes, or even breaks the more you work or spend time on your hobbies. Alternative wedding bands do exist that possess a durability that can handle the hard days all while still maintaining its original luster. One alternative wedding band metals is tungsten, one of the best wedding rings for a working man.

You know the saying "a little bit goes along way"? A simple, seemingly miniscule change in design could make for a ring that gives off more depth and an air of sophistication. Beveled rings are nothing too fancy and elaborate, but have a style that adds an extra dimension to your ring while staying easy on the eyes. A beveled ring is quite a popular design choice and we’re here to tell you why.
A bevel is simply a sloped surface. This simple yet ingenious design is commonly used for various items in stone or construction work. Bevels have been around for quite a long time, and while there is no decisive documentation that states when exactly this practice first started, mirrors with beveled edges that date all the way back to the 16th century exist. The style had become increasingly popular towards the 19th century and had reached its peak in the 1890s, as beveled glass was widely embraced in American architecture, design, and art. It is no surprise that the trend has carried over to other various industries, including in traditional metal rings.
Bevels serve more purpose than just aesthetics. When it comes to stone and construction work, bevels are used to not only soften sharp edges for safety and wear resistance, but also make putting other pieces together significantly easier and more secure, almost like a puzzle piece!

When it comes to choosing a ring design, many think about the finish of their ring first. Do you want a ring with a polished finish, satin finish, or soft-touch finish? While the finish is important for your wedding ring, it is not as simple as walking into a store and choosing the first attractive ring you see. There are always factors that should be taken into consideration before making a big purchase such as this! A beveled edge ring is quite the popular choice in jewelry and the various amounts of options may be overwhelming. Carefully thinking about your options and what you might want this ring to represent may help narrow it down a little, but just in case, here is what to look for when buying a beveled ring:
1. Type of ring - What are your plans for this ring? Is it a gift to yourself, a symbol of the fruits of your hard earned labor? Or perhaps you’re looking for a wedding band that will symbolize the beginning of a beautiful journey with your significant other? Whatever the case may be, rings can be designed differently depending on what its purpose is.
2. Ring material - Determining the purpose of your ring will help you decide what kind of material your ring should be used for. A ring meant to be worn only on special events can surely afford to use luxurious precious metals. A wedding ring, on the other hand, may require more durability and damage resistance, as these are meant to be worn everyday. Take into consideration which materials may trigger allergies as well. The last thing you would want is a ring that will leave your skin in rashes!
3. Size - Perhaps the ring might be a bit too snug for your liking, or even the opposite, sliding off your fingers a bit too easily. Constantly having to adjust your ring, especially a wedding ring, isn’t something you’d want to worry about, so ensuring that you know how to use a ring sizer is one of the most important things to take into consideration!
4. Comfort - Now that you’ve chosen your desired material, how do they feel when worn? Will its potential heft get in the way of your work and hobbies? Always, always make sure your beveled ring is one that you know is the perfect fit for your skin and your fingers and provides maximum comfort by being comfort fit. This holds true if your beveled ring is a wedding ring that you wear everyday. Rings are meant to help boost your confidence, not have you question them!
Pros
Timeless style - The bevel has been around for quite a while as we know, and it doesn’t seem to look like it will be going away anytime soon! The widely accepted vintage design has been a crowd favorite, and for good reason! It's simple multidimensionality will work with just about anything no matter how quickly trends change. As a wedding ring, this is perfect as the style will remain fashionable forever.
Cons
Too popular - Yes, the beveled ring is indeed a classic look, but one that might be a bit too common for one’s liking. Being flashy, different, and leaving a strong first impression matters to some, and having a ring design that’s simple and popular just doesn’t quite make the standards.
We believe it all boils down to personal preference, but a beveled ring is right for just about anyone, as far as we’re concerned! Beveled rings are an easygoing and simple enough design to fit most, if not, all walks of life, and all kinds of looks. Contact us today if you have any questions!
Finding your ring size is one of the many essential parts of preparing for your big day. The last thing you want to do is get the wedding band ring of your dreams just to have to send it back for a resizing. Or what's even worse, your ring accidentally slipping off because its too loose.Eyeballing your perfect ring size is definitely not worth the risk, and besides, getting your finger size measured is a quick and easy process that can be done at a jewelry store or at your very own home! But before we go into the nitty gritty of things, let’s start with the average ring size for men and women.
Ring size refers to the diameter of the ring or your finger diameter. Standard ring sizes usually range from 4 to 17, and come in half increments, meaning that sizes like 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 exist. The common finger size for a man is either a 9 or a 10, but men usually tend to to have a range between size 7 to 14, depending on their lifestyle and size. Men’s common ring sizes are usually a half size larger on the dominant hand, but may vary depending on the desired thickness of the ring.

As for women, the average ring size comes in at a size 6, but ranges between size 4 to 12 depending on their lifestyle and size as well. Experts advise that instead of getting a half size larger, that women add quarter sizes to their ring, although half sizes would suffice just as well. Quarter sizes are more recommended, however, because of the potential swelling your fingers may experience during different time of day, different seasons, or if weight changes frequently occur throughout the year.

So much goes into the other details of ring shopping that wedding band widths can be a detail that is sometimes overlooked. Deciding on your wedding ring's width may seem to be a miniscule detail, but is, in fact, one of the very important details that will very much affect the design and the price of your ring!
Before getting into the details, let’s clear up a few misconceptions! Ring width, ring size, and ring thickness are three very different things. Ring size refers to the diameter of a ring, whereas ring widths refer to how wide the actual band is, and can be seen directly when worn on your finger. Ring thickness, on the other hand, refers to how thick the material is when viewed from the side or profile.
Now what sizes are most common? For men, ring widths of 6mm-8mm is the average and the most popular, as it is not too wide, and not too narrow. It’s not an overbearing size and is quite easy on the eyes! It fits just about any type of finger, however, if it isn’t your type, a general tip is to take your ring size and go from there! Sizes smaller than 9 are better suited for narrower bands, while those bigger than 9 are encouraged to check out the wider band types. At the end of the day, it really is just personal preference. If you have slender fingers, a thinner width band may suit you better. If you have a larger size or your knuckle size is big, than a wider band might be right for you.
Women, meanwhile, usually go for 2 to 2.5mm ring widths, as it is a good size both as a standalone ring, or even as a ring enhancer paired with an engagement ring. It is, of course, possible to get narrower widths, as they tend to make center stones more impressive and appear larger, but wider widths provide more opportunities for other designs and engravings.
It is a general rule of thumb that when choosing a width, see how the average size looks on you and adjust to your preferences from there to get to the perfect size! Take note that a wider wedding band will always come out more expensive simply because of the amount of material being crafted. Other than that, remember that there is no secret formula on deciding on a ring width that is best for you as it all comes down to your style and what gives you confidence!

Many people tend to forget that getting your ring wet is just another part of daily life that is totally unavoidable. Let’s be real here, you can’t expect yourself to remember to take off your ring every single time you take a dip in the pool, or every time you take a shower or wash your hands. Forgetting one too many times may seem like a small problem that can be easily fixed, but why put yourself in a situation where you’d need to face this eventuality, when you can avoid it entirely? With the various options of jewelry materials out there, there’s bound to be a few waterproof metals for jewelry that can save you from the inconvenient worries of your ring rusting and corroding.
Before we get things started, let’s clear up a very important and very dangerous misconception! Lots of products nowadays, especially technology, come with descriptions or warnings that tell you whether an item is waterproof or water resistant. Considering its similarities, these two things tend to be used interchangeably, when in fact they are very different and could very much ruin the very important and possibly even very expensive wedding jewelry you just purchased.
Water resistance means that an item can only withstand the penetration of water up to certain amounts, but not entirely. Water resistant items are usually safe for when you have to wash your hands or take a shower, but may get water damage when having a swim at the pool for a prolonged period of time.
Waterproof means that an item is completely impervious to water and can resist it entirely, no matter how much time it is spent in water. Waterproof items are safe to use at pools and beaches without the threat of rusting and corrosion. However, do take note that while some materials are waterproof, they may still be vulnerable to other harsh chemicals that may potentially be mixed with water, like chlorine.

Tungsten wedding bands are known for their durability and their resistance to many acids. Water cannot penetrate the surface of tungsten. Washing your hands or spending a weekend at the beach won't do it any harm, as materials like this are very suitable for tropical or humid climates, and will be able to tolerate salt water just fine. Tungsten wedding bands' biggest risks, however, are harsh chemicals from swimming pools like chlorine, and possibly even the chemicals found in shower essentials like shampoo and conditioner.

Also known for its durability, titanium is also one of the most ideal jewelry materials for those who enjoy being in the water. Titanium wedding bands are able to handle chemicals like chlorine, so no matter how long or how frequently you decide to spend time relaxing in a pool, rusting and corrosion are just two among the many things that you won’t have to worry about! Wearing it when exposed to salt water will also do your titanium ring no harm, and quite possibly one of the best ring material choices for the average and perhaps even professional swimmer!
Do take note that titanium rings that are plated may not have the same kind of durability as ones that are made entirely out of titanium. This is why we highly recommend against plated rings. Other metals may not have the same resistances and will most likely be prone to corrosion!

Obviously, wooden rings are not waterproof. Wooden wedding bands can be stabilized to be more water resistant, but no wood ring is truly waterproof. If you work with your hands a lot and get them wet, we highly advise against wooden rings.
The beauty of waterproof wedding rings is that the materials used to make them are ones that require little maintenance and are the affordable option as compared to the traditional wedding band materials. Many of these materials can be cleaned and polished simply by wiping or washing the ring with warm water and mild soap! However, it is always recommended that you double check with your jeweler or find tutorials online just in case there are other materials that require different care instructions!
